Each brick can be purchased for $100 and will go towards supporting all the wonderful programs sponsored by the PTA.  Click here to learn all about the programs and events your PTA sponsors, organizes and supports.

The 2X2 Reading List is a project of the Children’s Round Table, a unit of the Texas Library Association.

Texas Library Association sponsors the 2X2 Reading List solely to encourage free voluntary reading.

The 2X2 Committee‘s charge is to produce a list of 20 recommended books for children, age two to grade two. You can help with our statewide promotion of the reading list by introducing it in the following locations:

• School and Public libraries
• Day care centers
• Early childhood centers
• Hospitals
• Women, Infant & Children (WIC) sites
• Head Start locations

It is not mandatory that a school or public library purchase all titles listed.

The Texas Bluebonnet Award (TBA) reading program was established in 1979 to encourage Texas children to read more books, explore a variety of current books, develop powers of discrimination, and identify their favorite books. The award process provides librarians, teachers, parents, and writers with insight into young students' reading preferences. It further affords an opportunity to honor and encourage imaginative authors who create books with high appeal to children.

The Texas Library Association sponsors the Texas Bluebonnet Award reading list solely to encourage free voluntary reading for students in grades 3-6.

A Few of My Favorite Things

We love our kiddos, but let's be completely honest, teachers deserve a medal, a trophy, or something along those lines for taking on so many kiddos at once!

It takes a very special person to become a teacher! Do you want to know more about your teacher?  Want to know about their favorite things?

Check out the Staff Favorites page on our PTA website and see what are your teachers' favorite things!

Safety First - Be the Example!

Did you know elementary aged children are the most at-risk for getting hit while crossing the street?  We must help protect our students from dangerous and life-threatening accidents, it’s essential to teach crosswalk safety when crossing ANY street.

Let's all make sure we are setting a good example for our students. When crossing the street at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, please cross the street USING THE CROSSWALKS.  Please do not cross in the middle of the street!! We need to work together to keep all of our students safe.

Giddy Up, Readers!

In October, head on out to the Wild West Book Fair – Saddle Up and Read!

Let's round up the staff, students, and entire families to make their way down to the reading frontier, where readers are wanted and adventure awaits in amazing books from Scholastic Books!

The Wild West Book Fair will be October 2-6, in the Centennial Library and online September 24-October 6.  More details of this Wild West Reading Frontier coming soon to a WANTED poster near you!
