FIELD DAY SHIRTS

This year, Centennial PTA is making Field Day shirts available for sale in the beginning of the year so they can not only be used for Field Day in the spring, but so they can also be used for grade-level field trips off campus. 

Each grade has a different color Field Day shirt, and that color will follow your Comet through their tenure at Centennial.  Keep that in mind as you may want to order a size to accommodate a few years of growth.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Our Volunteers are superheros!  The PTA Volunteer Program is one of the best ways parents can support the students and staff at Centennial Elementary. 

There are many ways to get involved. There are volunteer opportunities for every interest and availability, big or small!  Learn more about the various volunteer opportunities on the Volunteer Interest Form. 

The PTA is also looking for volunteer coordinators for each grade.  Volunteer coordinators ensure the volunteer needs of each grade (workroom, parties, special projects/events, etc.) are met by communicating with the grade-level community.  If you are interested in helping with this position, please contact Geetha at vp.volunteers@centennialpta.net

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

The PTA will have an orientation meeting for new volunteers on August 13th, at 10:15 am, immediately following the PTA General Meeting in the Gym.

There you will learn everything you need to know about volunteering at Centennial, from how to sign-up to the various volunteer opportunities available at Centennial.

IMPORTANT SCHOOL BUS INFORMATION

Is your Centennial Comet planning to ride the school bus this year?  Please note that Plano ISD Transportation will NOT be mailing out postcards to parents with bus stop information this school year.  A Transportation Ambassador will be at Centennial Elementary during Meet the Teacher events, scheduled for Friday, August 9th from 7:30 to 9:30 am.  You will be able to pick up bus schedules then.

• Update your directory preferences
• Purchase your annual PTA Membership
• Order your Spirit Wear

• Sign-up for weekly / monthly PTA newsletters for events and program information
• Contribute to the Comet Campaign Donation Campaign
• Select your Volunteer Preferences
• Complete your PISD Volunteer Application - Required to volunteer at any school events, including 2019-2020 class parties. Make sure you select Centennial Elementary (and any other schools where you plan to volunteer) and allow 1 to 2 weeks for application to be approved. Volunteer Applications must be renewed each school year.
• Follow the Centennial PTA on Facebook.  This is the best way to get the latest news to parents quickly
• Update PISD Parent Portal information between 7/24 and 8/5. Find instructions for setting up a new PISD Parent Portal account here. 

Beat the hear and raise money for our PTA! Join your friends or meet some new friends at Hawaiian Falls in The Colony for a Back to School Splash!  DOWNLOAD THIS FLIER for hours and discounted ticket pricing. 

 $5 from each ticket will be donated back to our PTA.

FLIP FLOPS & BOX TOPS

Just because it's summer doesn't mean you should forget about collecting those Box Tops!  Each Box Top clipped and submitted earns a $0.10 donation to our school.  Box Tops really add up to make an impact on our school!

July 24 to August 5: Complete returning student registration on Parent Portal

August 1: "Sign Up Centennial" online registration and payment for Centennial  PTA membership, school  supplies,  programs and more! 

August 8: Classroom Teachers released on Parent Portal at Midnight.

August 9: Meet the Teacher (grades 1-5 only) 7:30am-8:30am in the classrooms AND Kinder Kamp (kindergarten only) 8:30am-9:30am in the Library.  Stop by Centennial GYM from 8 am to 10 am to "Sign-Up Centennial" in person!

August 12: First Day of School, 7:45 am to 2:45 pm

August 13: Newcomer Coffee, 8:45 to 9:15 am followed by PTA General Meeting, 9:15 am
