Congratulations to Christy Byerly!

Congratulations to our volunteer of the month, Christy Byerly!  She has three boys: Kindergartener, Weston, and twin three year olds, Jack and Justin. This is the Byerly Family’s first year at Centennial and they love it! Christy’s favorite place to volunteer so far is the book fair. Her favorite volunteer activity is helping get corporate sponsorships for the Color Run. She is the COO at Senior Living Specialists and loves to see Centennial family businesses in the community give back to the school. Thank you Christy for all of your time! #DifferenceMaker

Color Run envelopes came home with your student on Tuesday.  Please follow the instructions on the included letter to and return your envelope with the amount due to your child's teacher by November 9th.

The funds collected from the Color Run go to PTA  programming that all students benefit from - picnics, field trips, author visits, and teacher education grants.  Thank you for participating in the Color Run to support our students!

It’s Science & Engineering Fair Time! We want to encourage interested students to take advantage of this exciting opportunity – this event is also part of this year’s Try-Athlon! Your child should have received an informational letter about the fair from their homeroom teacher this week. There is a form to complete and return if your child is interested in participating. Once the form is submitted, your child will receive an instructional handbook with rules and guidelines around the project. All projects must follow ALL of the rules outlined in the student handbook in order to be judged.

Science Fair projects are due on January 23rd.

SCIENCE FAIR HELPFUL TIPS #2

Continue to gather background research on what interests you and begin to narrow your ideas down to a specific topic. You can do this by visiting websites, the library, or by looking at science magazines.

Keep organizing your thoughts in your journal and begin to come up with a plan and a timeline.

Keep in mind that the more trials you perform, the more reliable your data will be. Please remember that pictures should be used in place of models when the project is displayed at the fair. Write everything down, even the smallest detail!

Here are two great websites for science fair help:

Taxparency

Did you miss the Taxparency meeting hosted at Centennial in October?  Want to learn more about what Taxparency is and how your property taxes and Texas state funding impact PISD?    Check out www.pisd.edu/taxparency  for more information and to learn how you can make a difference!

Parking Reminder

Just a gentle reminder that there are three RESERVED Parking Spots for Auction and Write a Check Campaign Winners in the southeast corner of the Centennial driveway.  These parking spots are denoted with personalized AUCTION WINNER parking signs and were won by parents in our 2018 Spring Silent Auction and Write a Check Campaign Raffle.  Please do not park in these marked spots unless you are the auction winner.

If you're interested in having one of the highly-sought after parking spots next school year, stay tuned for our Write a Check Campaign and Spring Silent Auction in 2019!  Thanks in advance for your continued support and cooperation!
