Congratulations, Kimberly Hutson!

Thank you for all that you do to support the teachers and students at Centennial. We appreciate your time and dedication to our school.

Student Publishing Kit Program

Centennial is again participating in a writing program through a company called Studentreasures Publishing. All our students get to become published authors!  This is also the third and final activity for the Centennial Try-Athlon!

These books are a true family keepsake. Centennial PTA will provide the publishing kits with the manuscript pages. Every manuscript turned in will be published into a hardbound book!  The PTA will fund the first copy of the book just for you!  Additional copies of your student’s book can be purchased for $19.95.

If you would like a kit, please complete the Interest Form and return it to your child’s teacher by Friday, 2/9/18.  Paper forms will be coming home with your student this week.

The kits will be distributed to interested students in the end of February. Completed manuscripts MUST be returned to your child’s teacher by April 9, 2018. Studentreasures will bind each book and they will be returned to you in May… just in time for Mother’s Day!

Please note: If your student decides not to complete their Publishing kit, please return the unused kit to the PTA Publishing Chair so it can be returned without the PTA incurring a fee.

Questions? Please contact Jasleen at publishing@centennialpta.net

It's Their Time to Shine! Spotlight! Centennial

Get to know what makes our Centennial Elementary staff shine!

This fall we are introducing Spotlight! Centennial.  In each of our monthly newsletters, two Centennial staff members will be highlighted.  Get to know a little bit more about the super staff that support our kids day in and day out!

Ms. Chrystal Litman

What was your Elementary Mascot? Rockside Ponies

What was your favorite school subject? MATH! :)

What made you decide to go into teaching? Growing up, I always dreamed of being a teacher. My passion for both learning and children made teaching an easy career choice for me. I had such a positive experience with all of my teachers growing up and I knew I wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of children. I believe teaching is a noble calling of service and I enjoy everyday of it.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome in pursuing your dream of working in education?  My biggest challenge was finding a support system to help me apply for college. I am the first person in my family to attend college and thankfully I had a close relationship with my volleyball coach and history teacher in high school. They were there to make sure my dreams of becoming a teacher would one day be  my reality.

Where would you go on your dream vacation?  My dream vacation would be a deserted tropical island. I love sunshine, the ocean, and palm trees. It is my happy place.

What is your favorite quote?  It is so hard for me to just choose one, because I love inspirational quotes. Two of my favorite quotes that I read daily in my classroom are:

Every child deserves a champion -- an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.

To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world.

Ms. Debra Lewis

What is your Elementary Mascot? Knights

What was your favorite school subject? Reading

Why did you want to go into education services? I am dedicated to enhancing our children’s education and creating an environment that encourages students to broaden their knowledge in making lifelong healthy food choices.

What is you favorite Centennial Cafeteria dish? Orange Chicken and Rice

What are your favorite movies? The Blind Side and White Christmas

What is your dream vacation? It would be Hawaii on a moon lit beach with a gentle breeze.

What are your favorite sports teams? The Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.

What is your favorite saying? Do not let the World Change Your SmileJ Let Your Smile Change the World.
