Don’t miss out! Centennial is again participating in a writing program through a company called Studentreasures Publishing. All of our students get to become published authors!

These books are a true family keepsake. Your PTA will provide the publishing kits with the manuscript pages. Every manuscript turned in will be published into a hardbound book! The PTA will fund the first copy of the book just for you! Additional copies of your student’s book can be purchased for $19.95.

If your student would like to participate, please email Anya Reister at publishing@centennialpta.net with the following information: student’s name, grade, and teacher’s name. Kits will be distributed to the students’ homeroom teachers the week of March 14^th. The kits will be due to your child’s teacher on April 8^th.

CENTENNIAL MULTICULTURAL SPRING FAMILY NIGHT

Come celebrate the cultural diversity in our Centennial Community and volunteer to participate in the celebration on the evening on Friday April 8th! This is a fun opportunity for your children to share live cultural performances, and for parents to create table displays to showcase your heritage! There will be food trucks, music, and entertainment!!

Centennial Comet Spring Silent Auction will be April 4-14th! We need auction items!! Do you have some great auction items you could donate? Do you have a contact who would be interested in donating? The class with the highest percentage of participation earns a popsicle party/extra recess.

Because of the overwhelming contributions, the WHOLE school will benefit from a playground refresh coming this spring/summer.

Yesterday, we had a GREAT day with author & illustrator Nathan Hale, creator of Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales book series. Mr. Hale gave our 3rd, 4th & 5th grades the most entertaining history lessons ever, and taught our K - 2 students how to be cartoonists!

AFTER-SCHOOL ART CLASSES

Centennial will be offering after-school art classes beginning Tuesday, March 29th for 6 weeks as part of the enrichment program. Space will be limited to 25 students. More details to come.

NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT INFORMATION FOR 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR

Online registration for NEW students to Plano ISD begins March 21. Registration is for the 2022-2023 school year and is for all grade levels, except preK, which begins registration on April 4.

· New Student Enrollment (kindergarten-12th grade): Begins March 21, 2022

· Head Start Roundup: March 21 and 22, 2022

· PreK enrollment: Begins on April 4, 2022

Head Start is holding a roundup event on March 21 from 8:30 a.m.-noon and 4 p.m.-7 p.m. and on March 22 from 8:30 a.m.-noon. Appointment-only visits will be available from March 23-27. Head Start is located at 1600 Rigsbee Drive in Plano, TX 75074.

Students currently in the district should not enroll. Annual registration occurs in the summer through Parent Portal.

GLENN MILLER NIGHT AT PLANO WEST

Please join us for the annual Glenn Miller Night at Plano West on Saturday, March 19th from 6-9:30pm. Your evening includes free swing dance lessons, Italian dinner buffet and dessert catered by Ferrari's, and entertainment from the award-winning Plano West Jazz Bands.

The Plano West Jazz Orchestra was recently selected (for the fourth time and the third year in a row) as one of 15 high schools nationwide to participate in the 27th annual Essentially Ellington Competition and Festival in New York City! These are some talented young adults who are sure to make your evening of food, music and dancing enjoyable.

BIG CENTER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Kindergarten "Big Centers" is a great way to get involved and help the teachers! During Big Centers you will be asked to assist the children with various art projects. Shifts run Tuesday-Friday, from 11:15-1:05. You will have the opportunity to work with each kindergarten class and help in the teacher workroom during each shift.
