VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

Mai Pham is our Volunteer of the Month for January!  Congratulations, and THANK YOU, Mai!

Mai has three amazing children. Luke (4th grade) and Michael (1st grade) are currently at Centennial, while her 6th grade daughter graduated from Centennial last year.  She and her family have been part of Centennial for over six years.

Mai's favorite place to volunteer is the workroom because all the teachers make her feel very appreciated.  She also loves taking yearbook pictures of the students with their big smiles!

Thank you so much for your time, Mai! Centennial Comets appreciate your support. #Differencemaker

INCLUSION WEEK

TEXAS DAY IS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 21

Calling all cowboys and cowgirls!  Put on your best western wear and come out for a day filled with performers, line dancing, crafts and our annual Kindergarten Pony Parade!

It takes lots of cowboys and cowgirls to pull off such a memorable event for our students. Read about the fun volunteer opportunities including Cowboy Carpool, grade-level classroom crafts and decorating /set-up below.  Thank y'all in advance for your time and support!

COWBOY CARPOOL

Word in town is Texas Day is fixin’ to be here. We’d like to rustle up a few dads to serve as ranch hands when the rooster crows that Friday morning, February 21st, to greet the wagons at drop off. A tip of your hat and a warm “howdy” will be a mighty nice welcome to our little young’uns as that mosey into school that morning. Reckon it’ll only take an hour or so and they’ll be tickled to see y’all brave fellas. After you’re done, fill up with some bagels and hot coffee. Round up 7-7:45 AM.  Please sign-up  for COWBOY CARPOOL HERE.

GRADE LEVEL TEXAS CRAFTS

Grade-level room representatives and classroom volunteers will be needed in each classroom for grade level crafts during Texas Day.  See grade level craft times and sign-up for GRADE LEVEL CRAFTS HERE.

TEXAS DAY SET UP & TAKE DOWN

Help display the student artwork in preparation for Texas Day.  What goes up must come down!  Help take the art work down after Spring Break so it can go home with students.  Sign-up for SET-UP on 2/19 HERE.  Sign up for TEAR DOWN on 3/18 HERE.

If you have questions, please contact our Texas Day Chair Brandi, at TexasDay@CentennialPTA.net.

STUDENT TREASURES PUBLISHING KITS

Don’t miss out! Centennial is again participating in a writing program through a company called Student Treasures Publishing.  All of our students get to become published authors!

These books are a true family keepsake.  Your PTA will provide the publishing kits with the manuscript pages.  Every manuscript turned in will be published into a hardbound book! The PTA will fund the first copy of the book just for you! Additional copies of your student’s book can be purchased for $19.95.

If your student would like to participate, please fill out the Attached Interest Form and return back to their teacher by Friday, February 14th.

Questions? Please contact Michelle at Publishing@CentennialPTA.net.

PTA GENERAL MEETING FRIDAY, FEB 7 AT 9:30 AM

Join the PTA for a General PTA Meeting on Friday, 2/7, at 9:30 am.  The General Membership will vote to approve the Nominating Committee and on proposed budget amendments. We hope to see you there!

VALENTINES DRIVE ENDS TOMORROW

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the final day to donate a box of Valentines or a bag of Valentine's candy for PISD students in need.

Donations can be dropped in collection box in the front hall of the school.  Contact the PTA Outreach Chair, Kelly, with questions at Outreach@CentennialPTA.net.

COMET CAMPAIGN  BEGINS FEBRUARY 24

Comet Campaign is an opportunity for parents and community members to make financial donations directly to Centennial PTA.  No donation is too large or too small!  All funds raised during Comet Campaign support PTA programs impacting all Centennial students, and fill end of year Education Enhancement Grants submitted by Centennial staff.

This year's Comet Campaign will begin on Monday, 2/24/20  More information will be sent home with your student in the coming weeks.
